Scope Of The Project

FOLUR Indonesia focuses on sustainable agricultural intensification through a landscape approach that takes into account forest ecosystem health and water resources. Land restoration and private sector engagement with responsible certification are key to sustainability. This approach also emphasizes gender inclusion to ensure policies that support all stakeholders. The capacity building of smallholder farmers is strengthened through training, value chain traceability, and partnerships focused on innovative incentive mechanisms. The project aims to increase responsible investment and finance through public-private-community partnerships to implement sustainable value chains.

Scope Project FOLUR Indonesia

Sustainable Agriculture

From the FOLUR perspective, the implementation of sustainable intensification through a landscape approach is at the core of agricultural practices. Agricultural efforts must consider the health of the entire terrestrial ecosystem, including tropical forests, as well as surrounding water resources and ecosystems.

Land and Forest Restoration

FOLUR's approach is built on the understanding that land-use planning and management are crucial components in mitigating the impacts of commodity production, while preserving forests and high-value ecosystems. This approach guides conservation restoration and future investments in a coordinated manner.

The Important Role of the Private Sector

Mobilizing public sector investment is key to FOLUR's approach. Additionally, it is essential to ensure that responsible certifications and standards help facilitate sustainability commitments for commodities. For the private sector, adopting a sustainable approach that addresses ecological and social issues will create long-term value.

Gender Inclusion

Considering gender in relation to forest and agricultural landscapes is crucial because men and women access, use, and manage forest and natural resources differently. These differences are important for the design of policies, institutional arrangements, and interventions aimed at supporting sustainable food systems and landscapes.

Empowerment of Small Farmers

FOLUR collaborates with the private sector by providing training on value chain traceability, supporting integrated farmer assistance, securing investments for sustainable commodity production, and fostering partnerships between companies and other sectors focused on innovative incentive mechanisms.

Sustainable Value Chain

Through a series of interventions, the FOLUR project is expected to enhance sustainable and responsible investment and finance by fostering public-private-community partnerships for the implementation of sustainable value chains.
