Palm Oil
Palm oil has experienced consistent growth in both demand and supply for over 25 years. The demand for palm oil is expected to continue exceeding that of most other vegetable oils. Indonesia leads global palm oil production, accounting for 56.8% of the world's production in 2019, and is also the largest exporter and the largest domestic consumer of palm oil products.
Coffee
Coffee production in Indonesia has gradually increased over the past 60 years. Since 2000, Indonesia has become the fastest-growing coffee market in Asia, including the Ready-to-Drink (RTD) coffee market as well as the demand for both chain and independent coffee beans. Indonesia currently ranks 5th among global coffee exporters, accounting for 6% of global exports and 7% of global production.
Cocoa
Cocoa has been an important cash crop in Indonesia since the 1980's. With 1,741,008 hectares of cocoa plantations, Indonesia has the second largest cocoa area after Ivory Coast. Indonesia is also the third largest cocoa producer after Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, contributing 16.67% of the world's cocoa production with an average annual production of 749,325 tons from 2010 to 2014.
Rice
Indonesia is the third-largest rice producer in the world, after China and India, with a productivity of 5.114 tons per hectare. Rice is mostly grown by small farmers in all provinces and is a major source of employment and income in the agricultural sector, although the contribution of agriculture to overall employment has decreased from around 40% ten years ago to about 30% currently. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, about 30% of the total rice cultivation area in Indonesia has technical irrigation infrastructure.
